We have reached £500!

Just a reminder that next Saturday a few brave (slightly crazy) souls from Team Milton are going to climb Ben Nevis.

We are delighted to say that they have already reached the fundraising target of £500 which will be used to kick start playground improvements.

If anyone would like to make a donation please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/Miltons-Mission-Nevis

Reminders

We are still waiting for some consent forms to be returned:

  • Primary 7 residential consent form and £10 deposit to be paid by Monday 24th September at the very latest. Just a small reminder though – the remaining £55 needs paid by Monday 8th October.
  • We are still awaiting some permission slips to be returned for our whole school trip to the pantomime. We also require a £5 deposit to be paid by Monday 1st October with the final £5 to be paid by Thursday 1st November Mrs Nimmons must confirm numbers with Eden Court by then so if we have no permission slip and deposit we will not be able to guarantee your child a place.
  • Please sign and return your child’s flu vaccination form whether you would like your child to have the vaccination or not. There is a clear option to state if you’d like them to have it, or not. If you do not return the slip to state your preference your child will not be able to have the vaccination.

Fluoride Varnishing

  • There was a mix up with our dates and your child DID NOT have fluoride varnish applied today just in case they try to convince you that they don’t need to brush their teeth tonight.

Message from Margo Fraser – Former Teacher

My name is Margo Fraser and I used to teach at Milton Primary a long time ago. In fact, I taught there from 1984 – 1987. I maybe even taught somebody from your family!
I retired from teaching last year after 35 years (a long time isn’t it?!) and this made me think back on all the boys and girls I have ever taught.
Dawn was one of the P4 girls I used to teach in Milton long ago. She was cool, clever and loved horses! When I left that school to go to another school, she gave me a photo of herself and wrote on the back “To Miss Maclennan, love from Dawn”. (Miss Maclennan was my name back then). Dawn grew up, got married and had 2 children of her own. But then Dawn got very sick – so sick she had to go to a lovely place in Inverness called the Highland Hospice. At the Hospice they looked after and cared for Dawn really well. Unfortunately, Dawn was too sick to get better and she died. I was very sad when this happened and decided I wanted to help the Hospice to help other people like Dawn. So I have entered Ness Factor 2018. It’s a singing competition which raises money for the Highland Hospice. I want to help raise money in memory of Dawn and I was wondering if you or your school would like to help me and the Hospice ?
You could help in lots of different ways.
You could:-
• Hold a coffee morning
• Have a car wash
• Hold a sale
• Have a dress-up or down day
• Wear yellow day
• Hold a disco
• Have a sponsored activity
….or any other super idea!

If you were kind enough to be able to raise even just a little money, I would visit your school perhaps at an Assembly and tell you all about what Milton was like when I taught there, as well as tell you more about Ness Factor and even sing you a song (if you want me to!)

If your school would like to contact me, my email is at the top of this letter and my Everyday Hero page is:-

https://nessfactor2018.everydayhero.com/uk/margo-fraser-s-ness-factor-fundraising-page#

Bye for now and I hope you will manage to help me and so help the Hospice too.
Hope to see you soon!
Margo x

Talk to Mrs Sinclair if you would like to organise an event to support Margo.

Well done to the Beach Clean Class :)

Last Friday out P6/7 class took part in the Great Firth Beach Clean – well done to everyone. What a lovely email to open this morning!

Good afternoon,

Thank you so much for your involvement in the Great Big Firth (/British) Beach Clean today. Six schools and over 220 pupils took part. Whilst most of the beaches were very clean, we still managed to remove bag fulls of rubbish and ensure it doesn’t make its way into the sea.

Please pass on our thanks to your pupils and teachers for all their hard work in keeping our Firth beautiful.

Have a great weekend,

Joanne Allday

Reminders & Thank You

We still have some children in school who have not returned their pantomime permission slips. Please could you sign and return your child’s permission slip ASAP to school whether you give permission or not, we need a slip returned. If you are able to provide payment too – that’d be fantastic. The cost is £10 per child but we are more than happy to accept payment in part. Please speak to Mrs Nimmons at the office if you require more information about this.

The School and Nursery will be closed to all pupils on Monday 17th September and Tuesday 18th September due to in-service day training. School re-opens to pupils on Wednesday 19th September.

Finally, a huge thank you from all staff for the overwhelming support we’ve received for ‘Mission Nevis’. The team are already over half way to their fundraising target. If you’d like some more information about this mission then please don’t hesitate to ask.
