P6/7 Shieling Project

Good Evening everyone,

I am so looking forward to our trip out to the Shieling Project tomorrow. Today, as a class, we discussed what the children will need for tomorrow. This includes:

  1. Warm clothing. Layers are best so the children can add on/remove if need be. I’d suggest taking some extras in their bag too, if possible.
  2. Waterproof clothing is essential as well as waterproof footwear. We do have waterproof suits and wellies for all children in school should they be required. Some children took these home with them today.
  3. A snack and a packed lunch. We’ve had very few requests for a packed lunch made. We are assuming all children will have a packed lunch with them unless they have returned their slip.
  4. Water bottle. I’ll be advising the children take theirs from school but if you are able to provide one from home then even better.

See you in the morning.

Mrs Christie

Tartan Friday & Burns Supper

Good Evening all,

A huge thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Burns Supper this afternoon. As you know, this was an event to raise funds for the P7 Residential trip so we really appreciate your support. The total amount of money raised is to be confirmed but it looked like a healthy pot this afternoon.

Congratulations to Ms Brewer and Belle for successfully winning the cheesecakes. It was lovely to see some people back in their traditional Scottish dress today, children and staff included. We forgot to take a photograph on Wednesday so apologies if your child wore it then and we missed it.

Head Teacher News

As promised I am writing to keep you informed about the management arrangements at our school.

An Acting Head Teacher has now been appointed to cover for me during my secondment period. Mrs Suzanne Callander will take up the post as Head Teacher from Monday 3rd February. She met with school staff today and said hello to the children.

Suzanne is well known to our children and staff in her capacity as Literacy Development Officer. This is very good news for our school and as Head Teacher I am delighted to welcome Suzanne into our amazing school community. I would like to wish her every success as she prepares to lead our school forward. I have no doubt she will love every second of this privileged job.

Kind regards, Mrs Sinclair

Bag Packing Success

A huge thank you and well done to our P7’s and families who came along to Morrisons today. They took part in the ASG bag packing event which was organised by The Rotary Club.

The volunteers were in great spirits, working hard together to pack bags and raise money for their residential trip. On first count by Mark (Rotary Club) it would appear that over £400 has been raised. He will confirm the amount soon!

A huge well done and thank you to every single volunteer. Amazing!
