Outside fun

The weather was fantastic today and the nursery garden was a sun trap!

We took all our resources outside for the day and the children enjoyed exploring with magnifying glasses, drawing the flowers and playing with our new steering wheels.

Let’s hope for good weather in a couple of weeks time for our summer trip!

100% Attendance – NEW RECORD!

We were thrilled this evening following our Parent Contact event and we would like to thank every single Parent/Carer of Milton Primary.

Every single pupil had their Parent/Carer make it along to meet their class teacher in order to discuss progress and achievements! This is a new record and we are over the moon with this superb turnout!

A Starlab is coming to Milton!

star lab

On Thursday 21st April 2016 @ 9.30am we have a 7ft high Starlab coming to the school and several other excellent workshops for the children to enjoy! We are so thrilled to be taking part in the Tim Peake Project School.

These are the workshops P5-7 will be participating in next week:

Train Like an Astronaut

  • Duration 30 minutes

Pupils take part in a series of 4-5 activities in rotation designed to simulate skills tests that real life astronauts undergo during training to go into space.

Find out how dexterous, agile, patient and hardworking astronauts like Tim Peake have to be!

Starlab/ ISS presentation

  • Duration 30 –  45 minutes
  • The Starlab requires a room at least 7 m in diameter and 3.2 m high

 Meteorites

  • Duration 30 minutes

We will bring our collection of meteorites for your class to investigate. We will tell you all about meteorites while the children handle the meteorites and then ask your pupils to use their observational skills to find the meteorites hidden in our box of rocks.

Rocket Workshop

  • Duration one and a half hours
  • Pencils, scissors and sticky tape required

Work in pairs to design and build a simple rocket. How far will it fly? Can you make changes to your design that will make it fly further?

“You Are A Star”

We said farewell to our cleaner Caroline last week as she  looks forward to her very early retirement. After 25 years cleaning for the Council she decided to hand her cleaning apron up for the last time. Everyone at Milton would like to wish you all the best. Thank you for keeping our school so immaculate over the years! Please come and visit any time.

We are also preparing to say our goodbyes to another Milton treasure-Hazel will be officially leaving just after the holidays (she has not managed to escape just yet!)

It’s hard to believe the end of term was a week ago already, hopefully everyone is having an enjoyable break.

Take care and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 11th April bright and breezy and ready for Term 4!

“My Day Out” by Brandon!

On Saturday we were picked up in Milton by a big white D & E coach. It took us through to Dingwall to watch Ross County v Caley. When we arrived in Dingwall we met a very friendly Staggie called Rosco. Ava and I enjoyed having our picture taken with him.

At half time I got to go onto the pitch with Riley, Keigan, Amy and Mrs Sinclair. We won a cheque for £500, we are all still deciding what to do with the money but I would really love new football nets for the playground.

I loved watching the footballers doing their really big kicks. Every time they kicked the ball I blew my really loud horn.

When I grow up I want to be a footballer and I was writing about this today in class with Miss Spicer!

(Thank you to Katriona and Emma for sharing their pictures from Saturday with us)

Milton Egg Hunt 2016

We went on an egg hunt, we caught some big ones- we weren’t scared 🐰🐣🐔

A huge thank you to Vicky and Jen for hiding the eggs in the woods! We had a super time finding them and all very much enjoyed trading in our plastic eggs for some real Easter eggs.

Don’t forget our End of Term Assembly tomorrow at 2.00pm in the School Assembly Hall. Tomorrow will be the last day to purchase a square for guessing the minion bunny’s name as it will be drawn at the assembly. 50p per shot! See you all tomorrow, tea and coffee served from 1.30pm.

Thank You!

Despite Caley winning 3-0 the Milton Staggies had a lovely day out in Dingwall on Saturday. We would like to say a huge thank you to Ross County for our £500 cheque, free tickets  and free transport to the local derby.  More pictures to follow but here are a few to give you a flavour of our day. We even attempted our first Milton selfie …(more practice needed we feel!)

“Champion” the bear had a great day out too. He enjoyed a nice cuppa in the sun.
It was a thumbs up from Brandon!
Mrs Sinclair, Riley & Keigan bumped into Staggie just before the game.
