Survey on early learning and childcare
Dear parent/carer ,
I am writing to let you know about a survey currently being run for the Scottish Government, and inviting you to take part in it by clicking on the link below.
What is the survey about?
The survey asks about people’s use of and views on early learning and childcare including nurseries, childminders, playgroups, or family centres.
The Scottish Government plans to increase the hours of free early learning and childcare available to 3 and 4 year olds, and some 2 year olds (further details can be found at www.earlylearningandchildcare.scot). This will be a really significant change for children (and their parents and carers), and to help plan for this the Scottish Government is interested in hearing the views of households with children aged 0-5. This includes parents or carers who do not currently use early learning and childcare.
Giving your views
You can complete the survey online at www.bit.ly/elc-survey.
Everyone taking part has the option to be entered into a draw to win one of 10 x £100 cash prizes.
The survey is voluntary, but your responses will help the Scottish Government plan for the increase in free early learning and childcare. If you feel that you are not the right person in your household to take part, you can pass this letter on to someone else. If you know of anyone else who might be interested in the survey, or if for example you are a member of a relevant Facebook group, please also feel free to pass on the link to the survey.
The survey is strictly confidential. The Scottish Government have asked Craigforth (independent researchers) to run the survey, and no-one outside Craigforth will know who has taken part or have access to individual responses. Reporting of survey results will also make sure that no-one taking part can be identified.
Questions?
If you would like to talk to someone about the survey, or if you would prefer to complete the survey by phone, you can contact Chris Thornton or Louise Blair at Craigforth on Freephone 0800 027 2245 or email survey@craigforth.co.uk.
Please find attached a leaflet with information regarding the above.
We’ve had a super first morning back at Milton Primary School! The children seem to have enjoyed a well needed rest and were raring to get back into their learning today. A special well done to the Primary 1 pupils who settled into school routine beautifully- very well done. They all told me they’d be back tomorrow which I am delighted to hear! Take a look at our new class photographs 🙂

A special day for our Primary 7 pupils today too as they begin their final year at Primary school.
We are all really looking forward to seeing everyone at 9.00am tomorrow! Let’s make 2017-18 a good one.
I’m sure we say this every year but haven’t those 6 weeks passed in a flash?! Since all members of staff start back tomorrow at 9.00am, here are some reminders for you all on Tuesday.
Your child should arrive at school, in school uniform, by 9.00am and bring with them:
Other useful items:
A calendar of events will be making its way to you in due course. In the mean time, please look at your child’s homework diary to keep up to date with events.
Remember it’s week 3 menu choices for lunches.
Lastly – label EVERYTHING!
We look forward to welcoming you all back at 9.00am on Tuesday. Don’t forget to set the alarm clocks and join the correct line 😊
All parents are warmly welcomed into school on Wednesday 16th August at 3pm to meet the new class teachers.
On behalf of all staff at Milton, I’d like to thank you for your continued support over the year. We are very lucky to have such supportive parents behind us in all the work we do at Milton.
We hope you enjoyed the Primary 7’s Leavers Assembly. I’ll pop the PowerPoint up on the blog through the holidays to give you a chance to look at the photographs properly as I understand it was very fast in playing. Thank you to all of the Primary 7 Parents for the lovely photographs and very, very, very heartfelt memories of your child. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!!
Have a lovely holiday all of you, parents included. Term 1 starts back on Tuesday 15th August at 9.00am. See you then 😊
Thank you to everyone who has been able to return the parent report comment sheet to us. Your feedback is very important to us and we would be very grateful if you could fill them in and return them to school as soon as possible.
Many thanks 😊
The school will be sending off a uniform order before the end of term. In order to secure the lower prices we will need to send it off in ‘bulk.’
If you’d like to order some new uniform items for your child then please go to Mrs Nimmons and request an order form. We will require payment upfront by next Wednesday 28th June.
We have some samples but these are very limited so it may be helpful if you speak to other parents about sizing.
The order should arrive during the holidays. We hope to call you in the holidays, or on the in-service day- Monday 14th August- so you can collect your items before school starts.
Any questions, let me know 🙂
Mrs Christie
