Information about Head Lice

Hello everyone,

Head lice and nits are very common in young children. They don’t have anything to do with dirty hair and are usually picked up from head-to-head contact.

Head lice sometimes can make your head feel:

  • itchy
  • like something is moving in your hair

The only way to be sure someone has head lice is by finding live lice or eggs.

You can do this by combing their hair with a special fine-toothed comb (detection comb). You can pick up one of these for free at The Mercat.

It is a good idea to check your child’s hair regularly.

For more information on Head Lice please visit:

Happy combing everyone!

Parents Night and Book Fair info…

What a brilliant turn out for parents night tonight. Almost all classes had 100% attendance and we really appreciate all parents that were unable to make it taking the time to cancel/rearrange their appointment.

It was lovely to see everyone and thank you for sharing your brilliant playground ideas with the Pupil Council.

The children will all have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair tomorrow. The books will go on sale each morning between 8.00-9.00 on Thursday and Friday. There maybe an opportunity to snap up some more books on Monday too as the Fair will be with us until Tuesday 9th.

Heather and Vicky have very kindly offered to run the Fair for us. The books will be in the hall on sale, if you wish to visit please enter through the Nursery each morning.

Thank you 🙂

Letter from Parent Council

Dear Pupil Council,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Milton Primary School Parent Council. I received your letter in regards to us supplying you with a bench. I am pleased to inform you that we will be buying one and hopefully have it within the school grounds for you coming back from your “tattie” holidays.

I am also writing to you to request that you speak to your fellow pupils and mind map with them what improvements you would like to see to your playground.

You might like to consider seating areas, equipment for playing on, would you like new games painted on to the ground for example hopscotch, snakes and ladders.

I hope to hear from you soon with some of your suggestions. We as the parent council are fundraising  just now for making improvements to your outdoor areas. Although we fundraise throughout the year to help support outings for you. This includes payment towards your pantomime trip in December. We are here to make your learning experience all the more enjoyable. If you have any suggestions of other things you would us to fundraise for you please do get in touch.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Rhanna Whiteford.

Tomorrow night at our Parent Contact event we want to know what the Parents would like to see in the playground. The children are creating their plan and are very excited about it. Some of out P7 pupils may come over and ask for your opinion tomorrow night!

Ben Nevis Update!

Our blog storage has reached capacity so we are currently unable to upload pictures. This should be sorted very soon!

Just wanted to update you all on the Ben Nevis trip! So today we are absolutely delighted to say that Team Milton made it up and down the highest mountain in Great Britain!

It was a very very wet and windy day, we can’t even tell you that the views were amazing because it was so cloudy we couldn’t see very much at all! The total amount raised will be announced at Parents Night on Tuesday, so far this stands at £1200 which is just amazing! A HUGE thank you to everyone for the support. The children will be very excited to begin designing their playground next week. The Parent Council plan to support the playground mission too through hosting several events very soon. This is all very exciting!

We will print off some pictures for you to see next week – there is plenty photographic evidence of some very cold and very wet people to be shared. A huge well done to everyone.

Celebrating wider Achievements at Milton

We are always delighted to hear about what the children are getting up to out of school. This week we are super proud of the wider achievements that we had the pleasure of hearing all about. A huge well done to Rio who was recently awarded most improved player .Cameron and Finlay completed their first Triathlon! Sophie, Summer and Hannah are our first 3 Numeracy Heroes. Finally, Weronika demomstrated her performance skills by singing to the whole school during assembly on Monday.

Well done to the children for sharing their successes with us.

Monday 24th September

Please check your child’s bag/homework folder tonight. The parent contact invites were sent home with all children today with a plea for them to be returned by Wednesday 26th September. We urge you to complete the return slip as soon as possible to maximise your chances of getting your preferred time slot.

If your child was not in school today, please feel free to give Mrs Nimmons a ring at the office to note your preferred time.
