Shining Stars!

Today at assembly we celebrated the success of our first set of November Shining Stars.

We started a discussion around our school vision, values and aims.

Staff were really impressed with some of the words that the children came up with to describe their school. We worked together to map out some words that they feel represent Milton. Parents will be invited to share their ideas with an view to updating – Be The Best You Can Be. The SHANARRI indicators describe our aims, the children want to retain some of these words. We are all feeling very excited about moving things forward and updating the key ingredients for our school.

A school vision, values and aims need to be driven and understood by our children, parents and partners. Get involved, have your say and shape our future as a school. There will be a large poster available in the community wing later this week. Pop in and note your ideas.

Welcome to Term 2 19/20

We hope you have all had a restful break over the last 2 weeks. A huge thank you to everyone who donated food at the end of term for the Foodbank, an amazing amount has been dropped off.

Just a little note to alert everyone of the work being carried out in the playground ahead of drop off tomorrow. Workmen are currently replacing slabs in our playground, it is looking great so far but sadly it is not quite complete yet. There will be areas of the playground fenced off, please tell your child to stay away from the fencing at all times. As soon as the slabs are finished our new markings will be going down on the tarmac area.

Most of the old slabs and rubble by the side gate was to be removed this afternoon. The work will be on-going over the next couple of days, please take care.

The school Halloween disco is taking place on Tuesday P1-3 4pm-5pm then P4-7 5.30pm-6.30pm. Hopefully you have already seen the poster – £1 entry. There will be juice available, doughnuts and apples (all included in price). Fancy dress encouraged.

The children are welcome to wear fancy dress to school on Thursday for Halloween.

Please take care on these darker nights, remember to ensure your child has a warm jacket each day and is prepared for all weathers. The cold weather is fast approaching and we want to ensure everyone is warm and safe. Reflectors and extra lights are always a good idea. Stick to the pavements and please avoid using the carpark as a shortcut.

There will be no after school clubs this week. The termly calendar will be with you by the end of this week along with permission slips if you want to sign your child up for anything this term.

Tomorrow morning will be the final session of “Raising Children with Confidence”. Carol has been booked to run a further course for anyone interested. More details will follow.

The witch from Room on The Broom appears to have arrived in the library, she looks forward to seeing all of the children in the morning. We are having a whole school focus on spooky vocabulary and sharing jokes with each other. We will be discussing staying safe when trick or treating at assembly this week and following up on our Stranger Danger message. It is hoped our Community Police Officer will be into school very early this term to talk to children / adults about staying safe.

See you soon everyone!

Goodbye old broken slabs 👍

Thursday – 24th October

Milton Holiday Hub is coming to an end but the memories will last a lifetime.  Today we had fun decorating some digestives for Halloween (this went down a treat).  During the morning we got to enjoy a doy therapy session with Murphy the collie.  Murphy was so calm and patient and the children absolutely loved this experience.  Thank you Murphy for coming to visit us!!

In the afternoon the children got to join in with some Halloween arts and crafts with Action for Children which was very successful.  While others went swimming and enjoyed the whole pool to themselves with lots of fun floats.

Tomorrow we have a Ceilidh in the afternoon from 2.30-4pm.  It would be great if you could come join us for some dancing and fun!
