Power Down Day 💡

Mrs Sinclair popped into Primary 2/3 today to see how they were managing without the lights on.

As you can see there are plenty of “bright sparks” in there…who needs lights and power 😂👍.

On a serious note, we had a good discussion at assembly about what we could do as a school to try and reduce the energy we use. Each class now has an Energy Monitor who will ensure we are all doing our bit to make a difference. All lights will be switched off when the classroom is empty and the Monitors will be checking Smartboards are also off when not in use.

Our next step is to make a huge difference out in the community by participating in the Plastic Pick on Friday 11th May at 1.30 (all welcome).

Come and check out the gym hall display to see how you can reduce energy use in your home. We have 10 top tips to share with you.

Hopefully your child may have mentioned 1 or 2 tips we discussed today with you at home tonight.

A visit from the Moderator of the General Assembly of The Church of Scotland

We had a very important visitor in Milton this week.

The children and staff enjoyed an assembly from the Moderator of the General Assembly of The Church of Scotland, Dr Browning. It was really interesting to learn more about his role and understand more about the responsibilities that come with his position.

He described pupils as “engaging and motivating”

We would like to extend our thanks in to him for visiting our school and sharing his experience with us.

Youth Club

We are delighted to hear the news of a Youth Club being established in the community again. Your child should have taken home a letter about the upcoming meeting taking place next week. If you missed this letter, please speak to Mairi in the Mercat Centre or Mrs Nimmons will get another letter for you.  We would really encourage you to attend, if possible, as the success of these clubs really does depend on the whole community getting involved.

To get them started, the volunteers would be delighted if you had any boxes, containers, tubes etc that’d be useful for junk modelling. Please hand them into the Mercat Centre.

Many thanks!
