Mrs Christie is having a baby!

Ahead of our “Meet The Teacher” event tomorrow we want to update you all with some very exciting news.

Earlier this week Mrs Christie shared with the school team that she is pregnant. We are all delighted for Mrs Christie and her husband Mr Christie and wish them all the best throughout the pregnancy. We look forward to watching her bump grow over the coming months.

I will keep you all fully informed about how the authority plan to fill her position throughout her leave. I know we will all really really miss Mrs Christie when she is off but she assures me that she will be back! She loves Milton too much to disappear forever.

Congratulations Mrs Christie.

Message for P1 Parents

Hello all,

I am really looking forward to welcoming our 2018/19 Primary 1s to Milton at 9.00am tomorrow.

A small reminder that your child should join their class line in the morning and I will come to collect them with the other teachers.

For the first day only, you may accompany your child into the cloakroom to change their shoes, jackets etc and through to the classroom where you are free to take photographs of your child. Shortly after we will ask you to leave your child in our capable hands and collect them again at 12.30pm from the reception door. This collection time will continue for the rest of the week. A full school day will begin for all P1 pupils on Monday 27th August from 9.00am-3.00pm.

I can’t believe it’s the time of year to be sharing this poem with you. I look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow morning.

Dear Parent,

I understand that you are scared
to wave your child goodbye
and leave them in a teacher’s hands
don’t worry if you cry!

I’m used to weeping parents
It’s hard to leave I know.
But it’s time to share them (just a bit)
To help them learn and grow.

Let me reassure you
That I’ll give your child my best
I’ll wipe their tears, soothe their fears
And change their dirty vests!

If your darling child is full of cold
I’ll blow their nose all day
Just like you, I’ll care for them
In a very special way.

I’ll treat them like I would my own
I’ll catch them from a fall and
If there is ANY problem
I’ll be sure to tell you all.

It’s true they’ll grow to love us
They’ll talk of school a lot
It doesn’t mean they hate you
And that you should lose the plot!

I’ll tell you a little secret..
That when your child is here
They talk to me as much of you
Of this, please have no fear.

You’ll always be their mother
Whilst teachers come and go
To them you are their number one
This I truly know.

Soon you’ll see some changes
In your little girl or boy
They’ll become more independent
And to see this, it’s a joy!

I’ll teach them all I have to give
To share, climb and to write
But to you they safely will return
To tuck them in at night.

With love from Mrs Christie xx

Term 1 2018-2019

Hello everyone,

We are all very excited to welcome the boys and girls back to school tomorrow to begin the new session. The staff were working really hard today to prepare for the busy term ahead. A warm welcome awaits our new starts in P1, hopefully it will not be too emotional for our mums and dads as their wee ones take the big step up into P1.

The hall has been freshly decorated and is looking lovely! We are all ready and looking forward to welcoming our parents in on Thursday at 3.00pm for our “Meet The Teacher” event. There will be tea and coffee available and we would love to see you there.

Speech and Language will join us on Thursday , they have an excellent opportunity available for all families to engage in some language development work. This is a huge project which will be happening over a 6 week block, it is open to anyone that is free on a Friday afternoon and interested in learning more about how best to support their child at home in developing their vocabulary skills. Please come along and hear about what your child will be getting up to this term with their new teacher.

After school clubs will resume next week and I hope to get the termly calendar and back to school letter out to you by the end of the week.

We are delighted to say that staffing has been put in place to enable us to offer wrap childcare both before and after school. Wrap will be organised by Miss O’Brien on a temporary basis until the post is advertised. Wrap operates between 8.00am-9.00am and 3.00pm-6.00pm. Please visit the office if you would like a booking form. The core Nursery hours remain the same for all children but some families may wish to book in for an extra afternoon session too as the Nursery will now be open 9.00am-6.00pm. Mrs Christie will be holding an information event at 9.30am on Thursday, all welcome.

We have a small favour to ask parents who like to stay in the playground each morning. The teaching team would ask that parents visit the school office if they would like to speak to them or alert them to any appointments or planned absences. The playground is a busy place in the morning and their priority is getting the children inside quickly and safely. Please keep the step area and walk way clear.

We are all very excited about the new term ahead and can’t wait to hear everyone’s news back at school tomorrow.

Hopefully everyone is now fast asleep preparing for a fantastic first day back at school.

See you in the morning!

Mrs Sinclair

School Lunch Note

Just a little alteration to the note that was sent home today asking whether you’d like to order a school lunch for your child. The school will close at 12.00pm on Friday 29th June not 12.30pm as stated on the note.

Please spread the word for us!

Sunflower Tea

A huge thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our Sunflower Tea this afternoon. We really appreciate your continued support in our fundraising efforts. I have no doubt we will be able to let you know our grand total tomorrow when Mrs Nimmons has a chance to count it.

If you weren’t able to join us this afternoon  – don’t worry there is still plenty of time to buy a sunflower priced at £1 and under. Please just send the money in with your child.

We will also be selling the leftover baking tomorrow at break time so if you’d like your child to have the opportunity to buy something  then please send some money in with them.

Information Update

Good Morning Everyone,

Just a couple of reminders:

  • All school photograph orders should be returned to school by tomorrow with full payment included.
  • Please ensure that you regularly check your child’s hair for lice. A good time to do this is at bath/shower time. Leave the conditioner in and use a lice comb to comb through your child’s hair. If you do this regularly it will allow for early detection and treatment.

Many thanks 🙂

Day Two Hopscotch

Hello everyone,

Having difficulty uploading pictures due to the quality of the wifi at the moment. We have hundreds of amazing memories captured to share with you all on our return.Just to give you all a little update, the children had an absolute ball at the beach yesterday morning. In the afternoon they were able to visit the climbing wall at Fort William. Their determination on the wall was amazing!

Today we are at the Sealife Centre near Oban, currently enjoying exploring the Aquarium. Everyone is sleeping very well and enjoying their meals. Mrs Sinclair will travel home tonight when Ms Brewer arrives.
